Oriental Shorthair vs Siamese
The check that settles it
Same cat, different coat pattern. Pointed with blue eyes is a Siamese; anything else is an Oriental.
Confirming a oriental shorthair
- A long straight wedge from the nose to the ear tips, with no break in the line.
- Enormous ears continuing the wedge.
- Tubular body, fine bone, long whip tail.
- Any colour or pattern except colourpoint, which would make it a Siamese.
Confirming a siamese
- Colourpoints — dark face mask, ears, legs and tail against a pale body.
- Deep blue eyes. Always, in every Siamese.
- A long wedge head with very large ears continuing the triangle.
- Fine-boned, tubular body with a long whippy tail.
